The floodplain landscape of the Middle Elbe uniquely combines a nature reserve with cultural heritage in a way found nowhere else in Germany. The Middle Elbe is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve; its flat floodplain landscape provides a valuable habitat for many animal species that were once threatened with extinction. There is much to discover here for anyone who enjoys being surrounded by unspoiled nature. At the same time, the surrounding area offers many destinations for culture enthusiasts, such as the Dessau Bauhaus and the cathedral city of Magdeburg.
In this unique area lies the country house built around 1735 by Prince Christian August of Anhalt-Zerbst, the father of Catherine the Great. It is one of the most important architectural landmarks in the Anhalt cultural region. Bennet, who often visits the house with his family, has carefully and lovingly renovated it over the past few years—and is still at it! Here, the rustic, charming country house is carefully enhanced with the comforts of modern living, yet it is meant to retain its historic country house vibe.
A floorboard might creak here, and some plaster might be crumbling there, but that is precisely what gives this elegant house its character.
The house itself is furnished in a French-Italian country style and is a true dream for anyone who wants to be transported back to another era. Here, you’ll heat the space with wood-burning tiled stoves, cook together in a fully equipped kitchen, and dine together in the sun in the garden. Everything has been thought of, from books to board games, and there’s plenty to experience, especially for the youngest guests. Since Bennet often stays at the country house with his own family, there’s everything here that little (and big) hearts desire: outdoor toys, children’s bikes, high chairs, a Bobby Car, children’s books…
Set in the midst of its own private park, which spans over 1 hectare and features 300-year-old copper beeches alongside walnut, apple, and cherry trees, you can spend a few peaceful days in the countryside.
From the park, you can reach the small stream that borders the property, where you can comfortably jump into the water from your own swimming spot.
Tourism Fee not included
A Tourism Fee is a mandatory fee that you have to pay when visiting certain tourism areas in Germany. The fee is not included in the price because it depends on where you stay, how many nights you stay, how old you are and if you're bringing your dog. The fee usually varies between €0 and €4 per adult per night, but may be 5% in certain areas, such as Berlin. It should be settled with the host upon arrival.

Hello, I’m Bennet, an art historian, father of three, and amateur chef.
We have carefully renovated this historic, listed estate, placing great emphasis on preserving as much of the Baroque architecture as possible (as required by the historic preservation authorities), since the house is listed as a historic landmark—including its interior—due to its historical significance. This is exactly in line with our goal: the house is meant to offer an experience of elegant yet simple country living. We love not only the rustic house but also the surrounding area. The proximity to water—on one hand, the Nuthe stream, which borders our 1-hectare park and where we have a private swimming spot—and on the other, the Middle Elbe with its extensive floodplains, is all very close by. In addition, there are many UNESCO World Heritage sites worth exploring right on our doorstep—for example, the Bauhaus in Dessau, the Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm, Quedlinburg, and Lutherstadt Wittenberg. The area is perfect for bike tours; the Elbe Cycle Route runs right past the house. You can also go horseback riding, hiking, swimming, celebrate together, cook, and explore…
