The first thing that greets you is the beautiful entrance area with double doors and covered staircase - which is also perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning. In the living room, the stunning tiled stove is the centerpiece, beautifully combining tradition with modern interior choices.
Outside, there's plenty of space for young and old alike to frolic, play, sunbathe or simply relax in the excellent outdoor furniture. Here you can let the kids let loose with the trampoline, kubb and hot tub, or you can roast marshmallows on the fire pit or swim from the private jetty. If preferred, bathing can also be enjoyed from the bathtub in the house, with lovely views of the sea. Below the house you'll find the old grocery store, which the family has converted into a cozy and functional aneks with a bedroom, toilet and kitchen.
After a day of play and adventure for young and old, you can cook dinner together in the cozy kitchen, where rural details and high functionality are in focus. There's plenty of space here to cook together, or to sit down on the bench for a cozy chat with something good in the glass to keep each other company. Meanwhile, the kids can cuddle up and relax in the sleeping cave, which is sure to prove very popular with the little ones.

Our names are Roald and Wenche and we own this beautiful cottage at Sørrollnes, located on the island of Rolla just outside Harstad. The cottage has been in the family for all these years, and the annex used to be the shop at Sørrollnes - which was run by Wenche's uncle. When we took over the house, it was in poor condition and has therefore been completely renovated. We share the cottage with our son and son-in-law and our two beautiful grandchildren. As a family, we love the sea and are often out either by boat or kayak, both alone and with the kids.
It's the silence that we really love about being at the cabin. You can really touch and feel it, which brings peace to both body and soul. This is where we find peace after a busy working week, put our shoulders back and enjoy the silence, tranquillity and bustling birdlife. We use the cabin all year round, and the different seasons offer many different experiences.
The place is known as the place where the sun always shines, because in summer you can enjoy the sight of the midnight sun from May to July. Then we often sit around the fire pit and enjoy the view and life on the shore down by the boathouse, which is a favorite place for both young and old. It's also a short walk to a kayak trip or fishing trip at sea. In winter, there is normally little snow, which makes for great mountain hikes all year round. If you like summit hikes, Rolla is known for its fantastic views. An evening walk in the dark with the Northern Lights blazing over Rolla is spectacular, even for a seasoned resident.
Even though the cabin is located on an island, it's a short distance to the shop in Hamnvik and well connected to Harstad via ferry. For the little ones, a trip to Fabeløya Naturlekepark is often on the wish list. Here there are lots of different activities and places where you can enjoy bringing your own food and drink.
