Welcome to “Fattighuset”—our lovely thatched half-timbered house from 1657. We bought the house and the surrounding forest in 2020, fulfilling a long-held dream of ours. The house has been completely renovated, so the interior has a modern feel with underfloor heating, a kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, entryway, and a living room with a vaulted ceiling. The house features two spacious bedrooms, and there are two lofts located above the bedrooms, accessible from the living room.
The house is an ideal vacation spot for 2–4 adults and a couple of older children who will sleep in the loft. The other loft is furnished with a desk.
We really love winter in our house. We especially enjoy the long, dark evenings in front of the wood-burning stove. We’ve split plenty of firewood from our forest, which our guests are free to use during their stay. We often play a board game or read a good book. Outside, we relax by the outdoor wood-burning stove with marshmallows or enjoy cooking al fresco. In our forest across the road, the children can play freely while the adults enjoy a cup of coffee in our conservatory or sit and warm up by the fire at the campfire site.
In the summer, you can pick berries and fruit in our orchard, as well as some greens from the orangery😊
There’s a large lawn where you can play a small soccer game, petanque, or perhaps a game of “King’s Game.” And of course, you can also relax by the fire pits and explore the woods. You might even spot a small fallow deer or a hare.
If you enjoy hiking or biking, take the 3 km ride to Gravlev and follow the old railroad trail toward Ebeltoft. After a couple of kilometers, you’ll reach the back of Ree Park Zoo, where you can see several of the wild animals for free.
Ebeltoft is located about 15 km from Fuglslev and is always worth a visit, with its old town hall, the frigate Jylland, and the glass museum.
We hope you’ll enjoy your stay in our dream home.
Best regards, Pia and Leif
