On Tynningö, a lush archipelago island just outside Stockholm, this bright wooden house sits high among the treetops, bathed in sunlight from morning to evening. The house is located on an island that’s easily accessible by car ferry or commuter boat. The trip here takes only about 30 minutes by car from Stockholm (via the car ferry from Norra Lagnö), making it easy to combine the tranquility of the archipelago with the pulse of the big city. You can also get here by local public transportation or a scheduled boat to the island, but for maximum flexibility during your stay, having your own car makes things easier. The house was designed by an architect and built with sustainable materials.
Inside, the house features custom-built wooden details and a modern, open design. The kitchen is fully equipped and spacious. For families with children, there are toys and books, as well as a trampoline in the garden. Please note that the smaller house on the property is our private workshop and studio. As guests, you have full access to the main house, the lovely patios, and the outdoor kitchen, as well as the laundry room and guest bathroom, which has its own separate entrance.
Outdoors, the outdoor kitchen and patio are ready for long, bright summer evenings. On the island, you’ll find beautiful swimming spots with both rocky cliffs and sandy beaches, as well as a local lake with warm water and a peaceful, family-friendly beach. For active families, there’s a sports field near the house where you can play soccer, bocce, tennis, and padel, and there’s also a local bus to help you get around the island.
Tynningö is a fantastic starting point for boat trips with Waxholmsbåt to islands such as Gällnö, Svartsö, and Ingmarsö, which are one to three hours away. The archipelago town of Vaxholm is a popular destination with cafés, shopping, and Kastellet. When it’s time to shop for groceries, we recommend taking the car ferry over to Gustavsberg.
