Our unique cottage and garden are the expression of a lifelong dream. The house is located right by the river Gudenåen with views of Himmelbjerget and close to Silkeborg town, which you can sail to. The house is originally a cottage from the 1950s, built as an Austrian-inspired log house, which has since been renovated.
We love the unique garden and are always struck by a sense of zen when we enter it and are surrounded by thousands of different flowers, bushes and trees. It has been voted Denmark's most beautiful garden several times, and there are more than 150 varieties of rhododendron bushes and trees from around the world. It is a garden to be experienced.
The area around the cottage offers a wide range of experiences. You can hop on the regular boats that sail between Silkeborg Harbor and Himmelbjerget and experience all that the Silkeborg Lakes have to offer. There are some of Denmark's best MTB trails in Silkeborg, not far from the house, and there are countless walking routes in the many beautiful forests. A three-minute walk from the house are two restaurants, Aalekroen and Ludvigslyst, which offer genuine chrome food and gourmet food respectively. Both places have fantastic views. You can use our canoe or kayaks from the house garden and sail out on the lakes to enjoy the beautiful nature.

The cottage was fine, but the surroundings, the garden down to the Gudenåen river, were simply fantastic, with lots of flowering rhododendrons, paths and terraces, a small bathing jetty – I have never been to a more beautiful place in Denmark.
