Victor and Mille's Architect-Designed 60s Bungalow near Tisvilde
Be captivated by the 60s style
Victor and Mille's architect-designed bungalow was created by a Danish architect in the 60s, inspired by the style of the Louisiana Museum. And just like the museum, the holiday home's special resonance is the interplay between architecture and nature, the clean lines, and the Scandinavian aesthetic.
Settle down on the terrace and in the garden
Victor and Mille bought the holiday home five years ago as a complete fixer-upper and have since carefully renovated it with respect for the special 60s style. On cool autumn days, you can enjoy time together with a good book or a board game in front of the fireplace, and in the summer months, the wooden terrace and large garden invite sunny moments, ball games, and trampoline jumps.
Mushroom picking and town life in Tisvilde
Victor and Mille recommend exploring the north coast's untouched beaches and the unique nature in Tisvilde Hegn, which in autumn is abundant with mushrooms and berries. Also, hop on a bike to Tisvildeleje, where Saturday flea markets are a regular ritual for the family, and end the day with a drink on Hotel Helenekilde's terrace with views over the Kattegat.
Sara and Mikkel's Architectural Masterpiece by Arresø
Fall in love with the holiday home's special design and architecture
Sara and Mikkel are a designer and an architect, respectively, and it's evident in their architectural gem with its fine Nordic aesthetic and design details. In 2014, Sara and Mikkel embarked on the holiday home adventure, which they designed and built themselves from foundation to ridge.
Explore the natural plot
Feel the special tranquility that surrounds you on the natural plot, surrounded by tall trees and wild nature, where you can make a bonfire at the fire pit, catch frogs, and take long walks in the forest and by Arresø. A short distance away is Tisvilde Hegn, where Sara and Mikkel enjoy spending time running and mountain biking.
Visit farms in the local area
Sara, Mikkel, and their two children love to visit Tothavens Besøgsgård, where you can pet cats and rabbits, greet piglets, and ride ponies. The family also recommends a visit to the organic farm Rabarbergården, where you can fill your basket with local delicacies for dinner, or settle down for a meal with ingredients fresh from their own fields.
Sophie and Kristian's Colorful Time Capsule in Melby
Indulge in holiday home coziness
Travel back on retro waves to a bygone era in Sophie and Kristian's holiday home, characterized by its warm and detailed interior. The holiday home is perfect for the small family who wants to relax and slow down, enjoying the blooming flowers in the garden in spring or gathering around books, toys, and board games in autumn.
Jump into the blue waves and spot butterflies on the heath
Not far from the holiday home, you can spend warm summer days relaxing, collecting shells, and swimming in the sea at Liseleje beach. Melby is also a short distance from natural gems like Troldeskoven with its gnarled fairy tale trees, sandy soil, and scent of resin, and Melby Hede, where you can hike through the purple heather carpet and spot insects and rare butterflies.
Follow in Sophie and Kristian's footsteps on a treasure hunt
Sophie and Kristian recommend a visit to good second-hand shops like Oles Genbrug and Loppefabrikken in Liseleje, where you can fill your basket with everything from grandma's trinkets and quirky curiosities to unique furniture and colorful finds that can brighten up both your home and your mood.
Henrik's Self-Created Holiday Home Paradise in Vejby
Be blown away by the impeccable style
In 2019, the terrible happened: Henrik's wooden holiday home from the 1960s burned down. Henrik decided to rebuild the holiday home, but this time with free rein to determine every single detail. In the summer of 2021, the overwhelmingly beautiful and stylish wooden holiday home was completed, clad with Danish cedar, plywood walls and ceilings, and polished concrete floors with beach stones.
Enjoy summer evenings in the orangery and warm up in the sauna
The heart of Henrik's holiday home is the living room with its high ceilings and large sliding doors, providing free access to the sunny terrace. From the kitchen, you can step out into the orangery, which invites coziness on cool evenings. Take a morning swim by the sea a stone's throw from the holiday home, and warm up in the garden's sauna barrel.
Unleash the nature lover in Vejby's landscape
Holiday home time for Henrik is a time to enjoy nature, observe the sea view, and feel. Henrik recommends greeting the sheep in the light purple heather hills of Heatherhill, being overwhelmed by the ice age landscape in Tibirke Bakker, or heading towards Vejby Strand's lagoons. If you need a rest on your trips through Vejby's hilly landscape, Gundekildegaard offers homemade ice cream with views over the fields.
Sophie's Idyllic Holiday Home in Dronningmølle
Be embraced by authentic holiday home coziness
Ternehuset, not far from Hornbæk, is a special little time capsule. It's like stepping directly into childhood memories in Sophie's black wooden holiday home with white-paned windows, a sweet kitchen, and light wooden walls. The holiday home was built in the 60s and has been carefully restored. Today, it's a sanctuary and second home for the family, just a short 45-minute drive from Copenhagen.
Settle down in the holiday home's cozy nooks
Both indoors and outdoors, Ternehuset invites cozy moments. Settle down in the sitting area with a wood-burning stove and access to the terrace, enjoy the sky in the outdoor shower with a rain-shower, or take the short 600-meter stroll down to one of Denmark's most beautiful beaches in Dronningmølle.
Explore Ruslands Bakker and Tegners Museum
Sophie and her family particularly love the beach and the untouched nature at Ruslands Bakker, where large bronze sculptures and the bunker-like Tegners Museum lie as if dropped from the sky among the heather hills. If you miss city life, Hornbæk's charming restaurants and cafes await you just 6 kilometers away. Settle down in Café Albi's quirky villa garden, or enjoy a long-table dinner in true Swedish holiday home style at Hornbæk Badehotel.
