Highlights from Anna Cecilie

  1. Light the candles and get closer to each other and a bygone era in the authentic surroundings
  2. Feel the wing of history in the original interior with details worth preserving
  3. Explore the undisturbed natural grounds, where there is space for playing, cooking and outdoor bathing

On a large, protected plot, in the coastal town of Blåvand, lies Karetmagerens Gård - the perfect setting for the large family or 2-3 smaller families who want to experience a bygone era with each other. Here you can step back from everyday life and live the primitive and simple life for a while in authentic and scenic surroundings. The farm is listed, but renovated in the original style of the 1930s, so all original details inside and outside are beautifully preserved. Everywhere exudes historic charm and with no electricity, the intimacy is brought out. Light the candles, fire up the stove and slow down together. Behind the farm you have free access to the undisturbed West Jutland countryside. Explore among the trees, cook together in the outdoor kitchen or take a hot dip in the sun-warmed outdoor bath and feel the calmness sink into your body. If it gets too chilly in the evening, pull the long table into the barn and let the conversation flow until dusk, with a view of the almost hundred-year-old rafters. You can also visit the architectural bunker museum Tirpitz, go to the beach and jump in the waves at the North Sea or go on an excursion to Denmark's westernmost point, Blåvandshuk Lighthouse, and enjoy the view over the dunes. (The farm consists of three separate houses, each with its own bathroom and kitchen. Solar panels ensure charging of essentials, and bed linen and towels can be booked by arrangement).

Meet your host

Anna Cecilie

Host since November 2021

My name is Anna Cecilie, and I inherited the farm from my father. I now own it with my husband, Peter, and we come here every summer with our four children, Balder, Idun, Embla and Victor, as well as a lot of our friends. Most of the farm has been newly renovated from 2022, respecting the history of the farm and all the preserved details from the 1930s. Here the farm transitioned from being an active farm to renting out to the less fortunate of Blåvand. It was here that Karetmageren from Oksbøl inherited the farm and rebuilt it to accommodate three families - each with its own living room and small kitchen, and a modern bathroom was created to share the area between the stable and the barn. The farm is thus divided into the Aftægtsboligen, B's section, which is the middle part of the house, and the Østlejligheden, which is the old main house. When we are here we often go to the beach, of which there are several good ones in Blåvand. Blåvand Lighthouse is also a popular excursion destination or scenic Kallesmærskhede, the protected plantation, Hennemølleå, and Blåbjerg Klitplantage. Many guests find that when the modern setting is replaced by a simpler one, other and sometimes closer forms of socialising can suddenly emerge. And that's exactly what we're happy to pass on.
