Our names are Roald and Wenche and we own this beautiful cottage on Sørrollnes, which is located on the island of Rolla just outside Harstad. The cabin has been in the family for years, and the annex used to be the shop at Sørrollnes - which was run by Wenche's uncle. When we took over the house it was in poor condition and has therefore been completely renovated. We share the cabin with our son and son-in-law and our two beautiful grandchildren. As a family, we love the sea and are often out either by boat or kayak, both alone and with the children.
It is the silence that we really love about being at the cabin. It can really be touched and felt, which gives peace to both body and soul. Here we find peace after a busy working week, lower our shoulders and enjoy the silence, the tranquility and the bustling bird life. We use the cabin all year round, and the different seasons offer many different experiences.
The place is known as the place where the sun always shines, because in summer you can enjoy the sight of the midnight sun from May to July. Then we often sit around the fire and enjoy the view and the life on the shore down by the boathouse, which is a favorite place for both young and old. The road is also short for a kayak trip or a fishing trip on the sea. In winter, there is normally little snow, which gives the opportunity for great mountain tours all year round. If you like top hikes, Rolla is known for its fantastic views. An evening walk in the dark with the northern lights blazing over Rolla is spectacular, even for a "seasoned" resident.
Although the cabin is on an island, it is a short distance to the shop in Hamnvik and a good connection to Harstad via ferry. For the little ones, a trip to Fabeløya Nature Play Park is also often on the wish list. Here there are lots of different activities and places where you can enjoy yourself with food and drink that you have brought with you.
