Summer houses both kids and grownups will love
56 m²
Skomagerhytten is a small, cozy, rustic house with a unique location right at the start of a forest and a lake. The lake belongs to Gråsten Castle, which is located on the other side of the lake, and the view from the little house over the castle lake is fantastic. Here you can stay in the cobbler's old workshop - a charming annex that has been carefully and rustically renovated with respect for the unique history and soul of the house.
The house itself is full of authentic charm with exposed brickwork and old beams in the ceilings, and the floors and ceilings are original and quirky with old Flensburg tiles and solid oak planks. It's authentic and a little primitive with the old details and the bed and living room openly connected in the room that was once the cobbler's old workshop.
In addition to the bed space with the fairytale bed in connection with the living room, where a curtain can be drawn between the rooms, the 56 square meters of the Cobbler's Cabin offers another bedroom with three beds. There is also room for a baby bed.
Here you can enjoy primitive luxury with details like a charming SMEG fridge in the rustic, but new and modern kitchen and both a sparkling water and espresso machine. The host has also provided freshly ground coffee for your mocha pot, and you'll find both beer and soft drinks in the fridge. The cabin has its own entrance and your own little secluded backyard, where you can enjoy the scent of the rose bushes on the terrace with a café set and barbecue.
On one side of Skomagerhytten you have direct access to Gråstenskovene with some of South Jutland's best hiking and cycling trails, and on the other side is the cozy square with small shops, eateries and Den Gamle Kro. Within a five-minute walk you can reach the beautiful marina, the royal kitchen garden and Gråsten Castle, where you can watch the Royal Life Guard march past in the summer. Alnor Strandpark with its blue flag and child-friendly sandy beach is 900 meters away, and Sønderborg can be reached in 10 minutes by car, and the Gendarmstien trail runs right past the beautiful grounds.
There is free parking and two adult bikes you can borrow for free.
It's an old house and the floors are cool in the fall, winter and early spring - so it's nice to bring slippers or warm wool socks for the coldest days.

My name is Johan Frederik and I live in Aarhus. I have a holiday home in Gråsten, and Skomagerhytten here is an annex on the same plot as the main house, which I use myself on weekends.
In 2021, I took over the small house and renovated it. It started with me wanting to create a single room for hikers, as I love hiking in the Gråsten forests and on the Gendarmstien trail - but it took off, and now Skomagerhytten is a wonderful place to enjoy time in both summer and winter.
I dreamed of a house close to nature and a place where you can be alone, and I enjoy that the property is close to hiking trails, a lake, the sea and forests. There's also a small cozy town center a few hundred meters away, so it's a great place no matter what you like. You are always welcome to email, text or call me and I will do my best to help.

We think that cottage is ideal for the months of May to October. In the other months, a fireplace would be a super investment when you come to the hyggelige cottage and warm up. We and our dog have otherwise lacked nothing in the house of Johan. Gråsten is a small but nice town with exceedingly beautiful surroundings!
