We had a fantastic few days with family at this outstanding gîte (La Plonplonière) in the Sept Vallées. JB and his wife are warm, attentive hosts who made us feel very welcome. The beautifully renovated 18th-century barn has 4 ensuite bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, a seating area on the first floor and a large dining space on the ground floor. Beds are large and very comfortable, and having two ground-floor rooms was ideal for some of our party who had limited mobility. The gîte sits in a large, attractive, dog-safe garden next to the hosts’ house. Amenities are even better than listed on Airbnb—each bedroom has aircon (a lifesaver during our heatwave) and there’s also a swimming pool. JB also offers meals/chambres d’hôte, noted on the gîte’s website but not Airbnb. We’ve stayed in many Airbnbs over the years, and this is easily one of the most luxurious, with truly generous hosts.

The vacation home was old and a bit worn—not in great shape, but charming and cozy. The surroundings were very quiet and peaceful, with cuckoos and pheasants nearby. There was almost no traffic on the road—we saw maybe one car three times in total and a few cyclists. There are fields around the house, and the ocean is just a short walk away. The garden is lovely, with a conservatory where you can sit when it’s windy, as well as an annex, lounge chairs, and patio furniture.

We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. There were 11 of us, and the cabin easily accommodated us all. Some of us went hiking in the forest and the mountains, and it was a nice challenge for them. There’s a wonderful sense of peace in the area, and you really feel at one with nature. There was a stunning view from the cabin. We really enjoyed seeing all the sheep and their lambs—it was a great experience. The surroundings were also perfect for mountain biking. We also went fishing in the lakes and caught two fish.

The most beautiful house in the most wonderful surroundings. We felt right at home. The house is full of character, tranquility, and beauty. We enjoyed the lovely pool and driving around to the charming little towns full of fantastic shopping opportunities. The house stands completely on its own on a very large lot.

A cozy stay in a very nice, spacious cabin in peaceful surroundings. Highly recommended, especially for families with children—there’s plenty of room for the kids to run around on the property. The host was friendly and responded quickly whenever we had questions.
