Nestled between Isefjord to the west and Roskilde Fjord to the east lies the picturesque town of Kulhuse. Here, on a lush, green lot, stands a beautiful, modern wooden house with simple lines and an elegant design. The house is spacious, with room for generations to gather. The interior is cozy, and you’ll quickly feel right at home.
Inside, you’ll find a large, bright space with an open-concept living room and kitchen. The high ceilings and large windows ensure you’re surrounded by nature on all sides. Up under the roof, there’s a loft with plenty of light streaming in from the skylights during the day. At night, you can lie down on one of the box spring mattresses, snuggle under the comforter, and watch the stars twinkle in the night sky above you. The sofa in the living room is piled high with pillows and is the perfect spot to lounge.
Surrounded by trees and flowering shrubs lies the garden, which offers plenty of space for both play and relaxation. On one of the patios, you’ll find a cozy lounge set. Here, you can lie back and simply enjoy the birdsong or the sound of insects buzzing around the insect hotels. The garden also features an exciting treehouse. Here, the kids can climb the ladder, hide in the treetops, and come up with adventurous games. On the other side of the house, you’ll find another terrace. Here, you can grill and enjoy dinner in complete privacy.
It’s an easy walk to the water. Close to the house is the beach along the Isefjord, where it’s safe for children to swim in the calm waters. It’s lovely here all year round. Go for a swim at the beach in the summer or take a walk along the water’s edge in the winter. Return to the house with cold, red noses for a warm cup of hot chocolate in front of the wood-burning stove. In the fall, Nordskoven, with its old oak trees, is breathtaking in its golden colors, and at this time of year, you can pick mushrooms and gather berries. Inside the house, you’ll also find a mushroom dryer. If you’d like to venture a bit further afield, we recommend driving to Jægerspris Castle and taking a walk in the castle grounds among the Wiedewelt memorials, with a Hansen ice cream in hand from the blue ice cream house.

Highlights from Ane
Host since June 2022
- A bright and spacious house with high ceilings
- A secluded garden with space for both relaxation and play
- Close to a sunny beach and a shady forest
My name is Ane, and I own this lovely, spacious vacation home. My family has been enjoying summer and outdoor life in Kulhuse for over 20 years. Several years ago, my mother bought a small vacation home on the property, but when she became a grandmother, there was no longer enough room for all of us. So we decided to tear down the house. We designed and built the new house ourselves in 2011, so that we’d have enough room for all generations to be here together.
We love lighting the wood-burning stove as soon as we arrive. Not necessarily because it’s cold, but because it means coziness and relaxation for us. Lounging on the sofa, chatting, and enjoying the space is something we cherish. We also make the most of the garden with its many possibilities. We find it hard to sit still—we create flower beds, build insect hotels and treehouses, and tend to the vegetable garden.
