Unique home on Limfjord hilltop
Hjarbæk
House
60 m²
Up to 2 guests
1 bedroom
On a hilltop overlooking Hjarbæk Fjord, this lovely old cottage exudes tranquillity and nostalgia with its beautiful thatched roof and mullioned windows. With a view of the water, there is room to cultivate togetherness in the small house and enjoy the simple cottage atmosphere, with romance, soul and aesthetics.
The cottage is filled with history and a special atmosphere. The oldest part was built in 1928, while the side building dates from 1976, and although the entire house was renovated in 2018, it was done with great love and respect for the original style. Settle into the simplicity of the cottage with furniture and colors that bring personality into each room. The cottage has an outdoor shower, so you can enjoy a shower under the stars.
On the first floor you'll find the cozy bedroom, where the two single beds can be made into a double bed under the exposed beams.
Outside, you can feel the peace and quiet surrounded by the trees on the 2500 square meter secluded nature plot. Enjoy the most beautiful sunsets and a glass of wine on the veranda or find a sun spot on the terrace.
If you fancy a walk to the water, the fjord is only 200 meters from the plot. The area around Hjarbæk Fjord is a game reserve and has a rich bird and animal life, while the hilly landscape is perfect for both hiking and nature experiences.
Although the holiday home is located in peaceful surroundings, you are not far from the comforts and distractions of civilization. You're close to Hjarbæk, a small town with a cozy marina and inn.
The holiday home is centrally located between the North Sea, Viborg and Aarhus.

Highlights from Erik
Host since April 2023
- Enjoy the beautiful view of Hjarbæk Fjord and the wide open spaces
- Peace and tranquility in a house with soul and aesthetics
- Experience the green nature and the high blue sky
My name is Erik, I work as a cinematographer and live in Aarhus with my girlfriend Ingrid, who is a designer. Together we have three grown-up children. We are passionate about culture, design and the environment and love our beautiful gem of a holiday home, which has always been a refuge for us in a busy everyday life. The house has been in the family since 1965 and has been the setting for many wonderful experiences over the years. Here, the tranquil atmosphere gives us space for peace and contemplation.
When we're here, we enjoy the view, the peace and the high sky, go for walks in the protected area or go to Viborg and enjoy the old town and the historic buildings.
A short walk from the house is the small village of Hjarbæk with old houses and a marina, which was once a thriving little port town with a customs station. The former customs station is now home to the cozy Hjarbæk Inn, which is always worth a visit.
