Surrounded by forests and mountains in Flå, you'll find this modern cabin. Here you get a fantastic view of Sørbølnatten, Høgevarde and Krøderen, and many opportunities for nature experiences on foot, on skis or by bike.
Inside the cabin, the ceilings are high, airy and bright. Through the long windows in three directions, you get in close contact with the natural surroundings. Many of the furnishings have been specially designed for the cabin, such as the daybed, sofa, benches and small stools. The hosts designed and built the kitchen themselves, and through deliberate and well-considered interior choices have created a whole that pays tribute to the architectural classic Ålhytta from 1966.
The space-efficient cabin isn't that big, but with functional and thoughtful solutions, as well as high ceilings, it feels spacious even if there are several people together on a cabin trip. Many people can brush their teeth at the same time at the long sink in the bathroom, and two toilets save time in the docking queue when many people are traveling together. In the hallway, there's plenty of space for lots of jackets and shoes, and in the kitchen corner, you can cut vegetables from both sides of the kitchen worktop while someone draws at the dining table.
The different seasons each have their own activities. January starts with snow-covered trees and freshly made ski tracks, if it's a bit windy it's nice to stay down in the forest, but if it's calm, the open spaces in the mountains beckon. When the snow disappears, you can take out your bike or climb the mountain peaks around the cabin, such as the mighty Sørbølnatten. You can also stroll at a leisurely pace along the blue-marked path up to the shelter where you can sit down and enjoy the view, or perhaps light a fire and have a barbecue.
When summer arrives and the temperature rises, it's great to take a dip either in the swimming pool down in the river, in a mountain lake or in Store Veåsvann, which has a jetty from which you can dive. If you're running errands down in the valley, the long sandy beach in Gulsvik, where Hallingdalselva flows into Krøderen, is recommended. Late summer and fall is the time to pick berries such as blueberries, cloudberries and lingonberries. When you get back to the cabin, you can sit together in the cabin wall and clean your catch, before frying pancakes on the campfire and enjoying them with fresh blueberries.

Wake up in an airy bedroom where everything, even the curtains, are made of wood
Snooze in the day bed while someone cooks dinner and the kids play on the ground just outside the cabin
Sit down in the sunny wall at the front of the cabin and enjoy the view of Krøderen after a long day in the mountains
We are two sisters who own the cabin together with our families, a total of four adults, four girls between 11 and 18, and a dog. When we built the cabin, we had owned an older Ål cabin together for several years, and we loved the cabin's timeless design and smart solutions. Sørbølfjell satisfies our desire for proximity to Oslo and the high mountains with good hiking and skiing opportunities, untouched nature, peace and quiet. Building in a cabin area has given us all the facilities we need, with running water, electricity, fiber network and plowing to the door.
The cabin means a lot to us, and it's a place we enjoy all year round and go to do nice things together - cook good food, play games, go for walks and update each other on big and small things. When we're not at the cabin, we want others to enjoy using it.

An absolutely beautiful cabin with a fantastic surrounding area! We had a great time with the kids. New and tasteful. Lovely to light the fireplace in the evening and hear the wind blowing outside.
