Unique beach house on the car-free island of Hiddensee

Imagine waking up and the first thing you hear is the gentle sound of the waves. Directly behind the dike on the car-free island of Hiddensee lies this vacation home. Designed by renowned architect Thomas Kröger, this unique house offers a perfect blend of typical island construction and Japanese architecture.

The house offers a sophisticated floor plan that guarantees both the experience of the surroundings and protection from the coastal weather. It provides a harmonious interaction of indoor and outdoor space with the large window front facing west and natural plot. The impressive and open to the ridge roof structure, shelters under itself the open living space with kitchen and fireplace. The generous staircase in the center of the house elegantly connects the two floors and at the same time becomes a seating sculpture with a view of the garden. Sleeping bunks and bathrooms surround the staircase on the first floor and can accommodate two families or 8 people.

Outside, a large natural garden stretches out and is constantly being landscaped - perfect for unwinding and enjoying nature.

Hiddensee has a lot to offer: From walks to the lighthouse overlooking the Baltic Sea, a swim in the fresh waves of the sea, to bike rides to the south of the island, reminiscent of Swedish forests. The original villages of Grieben and Neuendorf are well worth seeing and remind us of the simple life of times gone by.
