The fine 70s cottage of 90 m2 is embraced by tall forest trees, and is perfect for the large family or group of friends seeking both nature and outdoor experiences. There is a lovely sauna, a wilderness pool, a fire pit, a shelter, an outdoor kitchen and chickens to get fresh eggs for breakfast. If you rent the cottage for more than two nights, you are welcome to water and feed the chickens and let them out in the chicken run during the rental period. In return, freshly laid eggs are provided during the stay. Both dogs and rabbits are welcome, and the latter can be accommodated in the cottage's rabbit cage.
When you enter the cottage, you immediately feel the classic cottage atmosphere. The house is decorated with love for the simple cottage life and nature.
The large common area is homely with a wood-burning stove instead of a TV. The house has four bedrooms, with bunk beds in two of them. There are several seating arrangements distributed around the grounds according to the way the sun wanders in the sky. Outdoor cooking is possible at the house's outdoor kitchen with a large gas grill and well-stocked fire pits. The greenhouse provides a good green harvest during the summer months, as well as both an herb garden and potato bed.
If you want to use the sauna and wilderness bath, the rent for the sauna and wilderness bath is DKK 600,-, that is DKK 1200,- if you want to use both during your stay. For the wood-fired wilderness bath, you must bring your own firewood.

My name is Tanya and our cottage, better known as the Refuge, has been in the family since I was 8 years old. My family and I, who currently live in Hillerød, have a very close relationship with the house and the area for the same reason, as it is like a childhood home full of fond memories. Our children thrive when we are here as we have everything from a playhouse in the garden, trampoline and 4 cute chickens.
I work with nature-based psychotherapy and experiential therapy on a daily basis, occasionally using the cottage as a retreat. I arrange everything from campfire meals, psychotherapeutic nature therapy and hikes.
The local area is absolutely stunning. Tisvilde Hegn is, in my eyes, one of Denmark's most beautiful nature areas with a rich wildlife, and bordering the beautiful coastline known as the Danish Riviera. We often go for walks in the forest at dusk, where we almost always see deer. A bike ride to the beach or a canoe trip on Lake Arres are also among our favourite activities. In the National Park of Royal North Zealand, you can experience unique nature with a wealth of species, explore our exciting cultural heritage, as well as visit exciting museums, exquisite farm cafes, and you might be lucky enough to experience the seasonal music/culture/yoga/nature/food pop up festivals.
