Cozy architect cabin near Bekkjarvik

You’ll stay in an architect-designed cabin by Todd Saunders, purposefully built into the terrain and elevated high enough that you’ll almost be sitting among the treetops with a view of the ocean. Large windows and terraces on all sides bring you close to nature and the changing weather around the clock—while the cabin remains warm and sheltered when you need to retreat.

You can follow the sun throughout the day: morning coffee on one terrace, breakfast after moving to another, an afternoon drink in the south-facing lounge, and sunset to the west or north. The kitchen is well-equipped for preparing proper meals, and in the evening you can light the fireplace and watch TV while the storm rages outside. The bedrooms are bright, with comfortable beds and their own access to a balcony.

The cabin is situated on a natural plot without a garden, surrounded by nature. Even in strong winds, it’s incredibly quiet inside—no noise from the surroundings, just nature close by. The architecture is well-executed and creates a sense of visual calm in every room.

Just a 25-minute walk or a 5-minute drive away is Bekkjarvik, an old trading post along the Norwegian coast with a rich history. Here you’ll find a marina, shops, a Vinmonopol, restaurants, and cultural events year-round. The Michelin-starred restaurant Mirabelle is located right in Bekkjarvik. The area offers great hiking opportunities, including the Kongsen mountain and trails heading west toward the sea.
