At the top of a hill, surrounded by deciduous forest, this beautiful, traditional cabin is waiting for you. If you're dreaming of a getaway in a Norwegian cabin in the mountains, where a warm and homely atmosphere, muted natural colors, warm textiles and untreated wood characterize the interior, this is the perfect cabin for you. Here you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity, nature and each other's company in the middle of the mountains - with beautiful nature experiences for young and old right outside the cabin door.
The cabin is secluded all the way up in the high mountains in an area with reindeer herding. This means that in winter you will experience sitting on a snowmobile if you visit the cabin - because this is the only way to get to the cabin when the snow is still on the mountain. Your host will provide contact information for snowmobile drivers.
Inside the cabin, you'll be greeted by a cozy atmosphere, where traditional frames, modern design choices and unique personal details characterize the interior. Because the cabin is located in the high mountains, there is also a biological toilet. The fireplace section by the cozy sofa corner, with both a fireplace and a black stove, is the cabin's natural centerpiece. The cabin's previous owner has carved a self-portrait into the fireplace, giving the cabin an exciting touch.
The spacious kitchen continues the lovely combination of modern and traditional, with beautiful, dark details and a traditional black oven for decoration, heat and cooking, giving you a great setting to prepare the day's meals together. The large dining table has room for many, and provides the setting for cozy conversations and good dinners.
The cabin is secluded at the top of the mountain in an area with reindeer herding, and there are many great hiking opportunities in the area. There are fishing opportunities, mountain hikes and beautiful ski slopes in the winter with plenty of opportunities for all ages and levels. When you return to the cabin after a day in the mountains, you can light a fire on the spacious terrace, where you can also sit under a roof and enjoy the fresh air in all weathers. There's also plenty of space around the cabin for the little ones to play.

My name is Brit Eva. I'm married to my husband Joar and have three adult children and three grandchildren. I have spent almost all of my vacations and weekends in Sørosen near the cabin, my father grew up on a farm in Ålen with associated seats located about 1 km from the cabin. When I bought the cabin in 2003, it was small and we've added to it several times, so it's now both spacious and full of good solutions. The cabin has solar power and no running water, but we've made sure there's water in the tap anyway. In summer, we have water right outside the door. In winter, we get water from the nearby lake. In winter, there is no road to the cabin, but we can provide a snowmobile shuttle, which is in addition to the rental price.
The cabin means a lot to me. It's where I can really put my shoulders back and enjoy myself with my loved ones. When we're here, we enjoy hiking in the mountains in both summer and winter, because the cabin is located in an area with fantastic hiking opportunities where it's easy to go skiing and beautiful views of several mountain areas. We also like to fish, and right by the cabin there is a small lake, from which the river Gaula starts and we fish in both the river and the lake. The area also has many streams with fish.
The area offers great experiences such as Kjøli mines, berry picking and great trips to Kjølifjellet, Kjøliskarven, Riasten, Gulhåen, Jålvola, Gaula, Lunderengsvollan, Stugudal and Sylene. Reindeer and sheep are often seen in the area in the summer, and there are great cycling routes here. Some of Norway's finest farmsteads are located along Riastveien, where you can cycle. The closest is just 2-3 km away and is where I spent my childhood.
