Panoramic fjord and mountain views in Todalen

The cabin in Todalen is built in four levels that follow the mountainside down toward the fjord. This means that each room faces a different view: the mountains, the fjord, or the forest. In the summer, you can watch the sun follow the mountain ridge on the opposite side of the fjord from 7:00 a.m. until almost 11:00 p.m.

The kitchen and living room on the top level are surrounded by panoramic windows. Each bedroom has large windows where you can wake up to a direct view of nature. From the bathtub, you look out over the forest and down toward the fjord, with Mount Rambjøra on the other side, rising 1,150 meters straight up from the water.

Blueberries and raspberries grow in the forest right outside the cabin, and mushrooms can also be found there. In the fjord, you can fish right from the shore, and the outdoor fire pit is perfect for grilling the day’s catch at sunset, perhaps with freshly picked mushrooms on the side.

The old horse trail from Todalen down to Svinvik Farm is now a hiking trail and starts right by the cabin. The farm has opened as a restaurant serving a seven-course table d’hôte featuring local ingredients, and the adjacent Svinvik Arboretum features plants from all over the world. Deep in the valley lies Todalshytta, a 19th-century lodge that offers dinner and concerts in the summer.
