Clear view over Veddinge Bakker and Sejerø Bay

We’re a family of four—my husband and I and our two girls, ages 3 and 6—and we love our dream vacation home. The area, the view, and the cottage itself always bring us peace of mind, and we spend as much time here as we can.

For many years, we’ve been traveling back and forth between Jutland and Copenhagen to visit family and friends, and at some point, the idea arose to buy a cottage halfway between the two, which could bring us closer together. During the COVID-19 lockdown, we had plenty of time to look around, and we instinctively fell in love with this house and its location. The house needed some TLC and had a lot of untapped potential, so we’ve spent the first year and a half completely renovating the vacation home with the help of both architects and a general contractor.

We love the many beaches in the area. About a 15-minute drive north is Gudmindrup Lyng, a truly lovely beach that’s especially great for young children. We also love the beach at Høve Forest, and of course “our” beach right by the vacation home. However, there are more rocks here, so if we plan to spend most of the day at the beach, we often drive 10–15 minutes north or south. We also love taking walks along the beach, especially to and from Ordrup, where we enjoy coffee and ice cream.

Lillero is a wonderful place to have coffee and, not least, to have dinner. Remember to make a reservation, as it’s often packed. You can walk there along the beach or drive there in 5 minutes. Sommerland Sjælland always brings joy to the kids. We also like Sandgaarden right by Høve Bakke, where you can pet rabbits (and there are plenty of them) and buy delicious farm-fresh produce.
