In the middle of Thy National Park on the dramatic coastline of West Jutland lies this cozy little cottage, which has been lovingly modernized without compromising the original soul of the house. Here you live on the outskirts of the fishing village of Vorupør, and just outside the cottage you'll find the beautiful dune landscapes, large plantations and wild forests that make up the National Park and provide the perfect setting for hiking and outdoor life in the unspoiled and undisturbed nature.
The cottage is decorated in a personal retro style with lamps, tiles and textiles in beautiful 60s and 70s colors. The heart of the house is the charming alcove, which is a lovely little pocket of calm where you can read a book with a view of the crackling fire in the wood-burning stove or perhaps take a nap after a good lunch with freshly caught fish from the local smokehouse. Morning coffee can be enjoyed on the terrace where you can enjoy the silence and views of the dunes, perhaps in the company of the pheasants and deer that often visit the property.
The cottage is located on the outskirts of the old, authentic fishing village of Vorupør, which is a mecca for surfers. Here you can eat ice cream on the beach among the colorful fishing boats and relax in the sun at the newly built sea bath, which is calm from the wild waves of the North Sea with a jetty, ramps and sandy beach.

My name is Mads and I have the summer house together with my girlfriend Emma. We live in Copenhagen, where we both work in academia at the University of Copenhagen and the University of Amsterdam respectively. The summer house is therefore a wonderful haven for us, where we can relax and enjoy nature while visiting my parents in Thy, where I'm from and my parents still live.
We have many good traditions at the cottage. We enjoy the summers where we can sit under the open sky with a book on the beautiful natural grounds, but also to visit the place in the winter months where the wood stove keeps the house warm and cozy when it's windy and blustery outside. Our work also allows us to occasionally work from the cottage. We take our lunch break to go to the smokehouse for fish cakes or hot smoked salmon, and in the afternoon break we go for a walk on the water.
Vorupør is really nice with several good places to buy fish and small cozy second-hand shops. It's a great place to surf and there are good opportunities to rent equipment in the town. There are a wealth of beautiful trails and hiking routes in Thy National Park, and we particularly enjoy the walks at Bøgsted Rende just north of Vorupør or at Isbjerget a little further north near Nors. The large natural areas by the beach, dunes and forest allow you to enjoy nature in complete privacy. We also often go to Stenbjerg Landingsplads just south of Vorupør to see the most beautiful sunset here, and Lodbjerg Lighthouse is always a great experience with its fantastic views and cozy café.

Really cozy very small cottage. A little spartanly equipped and furnished.
