Let nature get close in an architect designed holiday home

Højby, Denmark

Highlights and descriptions have been auto-translated from Danish

Highlights from Cathrine

  1. Large windows that provide a nice view of nature
  2. The fireplace in the middle of the house, where you can see the fire from all sides
  3. Walkway all around the cottage, so you can follow the sun's rays and always sit in the dry

Large cottage carefully designed and built by an architect couple in the best 70's style. Here the shoulders slump and there is an ideal setting for cosy get-togethers. Look forward to the large windows connecting outside and inside and the dining table with plenty of space for togetherness and cosy moments. The (almost completely) enclosed garden is perfect for play and outdoor dining, while the woodland around the cottage is wonderful for exploring. In best cottage style, most of the square footage is divided between the living room and kitchen with a large dining table, while the four bedrooms in the cottage have just enough room for the beds (one 160, one 140 and two sets of bunk beds - top bunks are only good for those who don't drift off to sleep). The style is well preserved, so it feels like walking into a time warp. However, you benefit from the newly renovated kitchen, which makes cooking a pleasure. Here you can both look out at nature through the full-wall windows or follow the conversation around the dining table. The summer house is located on a double plot, so neighbours feel far away. Denmark's best children's beach, Sejerøbugten, is only a 5-minute walk away, and it is possible to use the cottage's tow cart if you have a lot to carry. If you love the 70's style and want to feel like you are in the middle of nature, this is the perfect cottage for you with your family or friends.

Meet your host

Cathrine

Host since January 2021

My name is Cathrine and I'm the one in the family who is in charge of everything related to sharing our cottage with nice guests. It was my grandparents who designed and built the cottage back in the 70s, so the place has a very special place in my heart. My husband, two children and I often make the trip from Aarhus and enjoy a few days at the cottage, as it is here in particular that our shoulders completely slump.
