In the small, yellow cottage at Havnsø in West Zealand you can feel at home. In the few cozy square meters, nature is invited inside. You'll experience this when you recognize nature's hues in the decor, which primarily consists of second-hand finds and home-made furniture. The most space is in the common room with the living room and kitchen. You can enjoy a homemade Piña Colada on a bar stool in the kitchen or serve a delicious brunch for the whole family. On a rainy day, you can watch a good movie together or get your knitting out while the fire crackles in the wood-burning stove.
In the bedrooms, you'll again be embraced by a carefully curated color palette and feel a sense of calm with everlasting flowers on the windowsill and bamboo headboards. In one room, you can get the feeling of curling up in a cave and just closing your eyes in a sun mist. In the other, you can gather in the evening and watch a beautiful sunset. When you need to shower, you don't have to worry about whether there's enough hot water for the next person in line. There's a flow-through water heater so you can soak in a hot shower with peace of mind.
In the garden, you can walk around and smell the flowers or watch the life in the butterfly bush while feeling the grass tickle your bare toes. On the southwest-facing terrace, you can relax in the lounge area and take a nap or just watch the children playing tag on the grass. Set the table and enjoy the smells as you grill lobster tails or a nice roast. Jump into the hot hot tub with a cold beer and watch the light change as the sunset paints colors in the sky.
You can also explore the surrounding area. At the harbor's fish house, Havnsø Fisk, you can buy fresh salmon and drink a cold rosé. At Pandekagehuset you can eat a warm, soft pancake and the children can play on the nature playground or watch the pigs, turtles or parrots. There's also a sauna at the harbor. If you like winter swimming, you can book a one-day ticket, jump into the water from the jetty and then gather for a chat in the hot sauna. You can also pack a big lunch, bring your bike and board the Nexelø Ferry for a day trip to one of the nearby islands. In summer, it's also worth keeping an eye out for flea markets at the harbor where you can pick up some special finds.

Our names are Sebastian and Christina. In 2018, we bought our little yellow gem to be our hobby project while we were still students. We also wanted an outdoor space with growing shrubs, flowers and lots of grass for our four-legged love, Berta. For three years, we renovated the house until we finally had the cottage we wanted. It is now our heart child. We call it The Smile because we met in the City of Smiles and the cottage is a place that brings smiles to our faces.
In the cottage, we have created a setting where we are always met with peace and quiet, where we can recharge and spend time with the people who matter most. We love playing games in the garden, grilling sausages or taking a dip in the hot tub with friends and family.
