The hosts have put a lot of love into the decor of this lovely cottage, which is cozy and homely with its muted pastel colors on the walls and personal touches in every room. There's a calm and informal atmosphere that's perfect for a relaxed, slow-paced summer cottage break. It's just a few hundred meters down to the water from here, and the cottage overlooks a peaceful meadow and beyond to the sea. With its undisturbed location, a pheasant, a hare, a buzzard or a swallow might just pass by.
In particular, the kitchen and living room, which are open to each other, offer atmospheric views of the water and meadow. The intimate kitchen is in beautiful natural colors and has everything you need, and the living room is cozy with light wood tones that create a sense of calm. There's plenty of space to cozy up on the sofa while having a conversation with someone cooking in the kitchen. If you don't feel like cooking indoors, you can also cook delicious food on the fire or grill outside.
In the living room, there's another cozy nook - a lovely, soft daybed filled with pillows and skins in front of the wood-burning stove, where you can warm up. Here, the host's children love to sit and gaze into the warm fire - and they love the cottage's children's rooms, which are both decorated in pretty pastel colors and equipped with lovely toys. There is also the option to set up a travel cot for smaller children.
The bedroom, like the rest of the cottage, has a calm, relaxing atmosphere with the personal decor with a touch of color here and there. The bathroom is small but functional and decorated with a common thread, adding coziness and a sense of well-being with baskets and knick-knacks. The cottage also has a small annex that works well as an extra isolated bedroom where you can retreat for a good night's sleep, read a book in the corner or enjoy the view from the bed. The summer house atmosphere is at its best here, where wicker furniture and delicate colors are spiced up with the warmth of more colorful knick-knacks.
The terrace is perfect for morning coffee overlooking the water, while the patio is sunny from midday and sheltered from the wind. Here you can lie in the deck chairs and enjoy a peaceful moment. In the evenings, the sunny front of the house is the perfect place to eat your evening meal with a view of the peaceful fields.
If you're up for a water adventure, take a trip along the coast in the house's two-person kayak and enjoy the island from the sea. If you prefer land adventures, you can take a trip to Korshavn and around Avernak on one of the cottage's island bikes, which the hosts have provided for free use. 200 meters from the house you'll also find two beaches - a pebble beach with the possibility of finding fossils and a child-friendly sandy beach with a sandy bottom and shallow water.

Personally decorated with homeliness and cozy corners in focus, especially for families or couples of friends
The closeness comes as soon as you step ashore on the small island, as you can't drive straight into a city
The cottage has a lovely secluded location right in the middle of nature with views of the sea and a meadow with birdlife and Scottish Highland cattle
Our names are Line and Allan, and we live in Svendborg, Vindeby, with our three children. I, Line, grew up on Avernakø, where my parents and several other members of my family live permanently. We use our summer house a lot, and just as much in winter as in summer.
I love interior design and am always on the hunt for the right flea market finds to create the coziest, most atmospheric, and functional surroundings in our two homes. Our summer house and home are largely furnished with pure and simple recycled finds, and we love old design classics in oak.
I never thought I would have a summer house, but it has become the perfect place for our family to slow down, lounge around in our pajamas, and be in nature, either on our own or with good friends and family.
Allan loves being outdoors, going for walks and working in his vegetable garden, which he has established together with my mother and father. He is a keen sailor and loves life by the water – and he helps me realise my many interior design dreams. The children love the many opportunities for play in the house and outdoors. They are particularly fond of board games, ball games, detective games, and building forts. It is clear that they enjoy the peace and togetherness of the summer house – the youngest, like his older siblings, has fallen in love with the warmth of the wood-burning stove.
We play lots of games indoors and outdoors. When the weather is too nice to be outside, we get out the craft boxes and make dream catchers, necklaces, etc. There are endless opportunities for play and exploration of nature right outside the door. The kids' favorite place is playing in the gymnastic rings on the terrace. It's especially cozy to build a bonfire at the island's picnic shelter. Outside, we go for walks on the beach and look for fossils – sea candles, hollow stones, petrified sea urchins, and amber with amber lights or a sharp eye.
We also meet other families with children at the island's multi-purpose sports field, where we play hockey and soccer, and the little ones ride their bikes and run around the field. There is also a skateboard ramp, which they have a lot of fun with.
We enjoy going to the beach in the summer, where we swim, snorkel, and sail along the coast on our stand-up paddleboards or in our kayak. The kids love fishing for crabs at the marina. There are plenty of opportunities to catch trout along the coast if you are a skilled angler.
There are several places to eat around the island, which we enjoy.

Really charming house with a lovely location and decor. The house is very well equipped and has everything you need. We brought many things that we didn't need. We brought two dogs and they worked well with the neighbor's two dogs. We would like to return, so this is the best recommendation.
