At the top of Hornsherred in the small, peaceful town of Kulhuse lies this beautifully renovated 60s cottage. Surrounded by trees in a secluded garden, the house with its mullioned windows exudes a classic, idyllic cottage atmosphere. There's plenty of space for the extended family to gather just an hour's drive from Copenhagen.
In the main house you'll find the obvious gathering place. Here you can prepare meals in the cozy little kitchen or snuggle up on the lovely corner sofa in the living room. Spend a quiet moment in the smaller of the two annexes and let the children play in the large annex on rainy days. The decor is light and homely with retro details and warm wood and bamboo furniture, while the striped walls in the bedrooms create a nice connection between the rooms.
Outside, the lovely wooden terrace ties the houses together, while the garden invites both play and quiet contemplation among the tranquil trees and shrubs. Let the kids romp on the trampoline or light a fire on a cool summer evening. The house is not far from both the beach and the harbor, from where you can sail to Sølager and then take a trip up the north coast to the many cozy beach towns.

My name is Hanne, and we originally bought our lovely summer house because both our adult children live in Copenhagen. The cottage is only an hour's drive away and therefore serves as the perfect gathering place for the whole family, which has gradually grown in size.
In North Zealand there are many exciting things to experience. We enjoy walking in the North Forest to see Denmark's oldest oak, Kongeegen, while Jægerspris Castle is also worth a visit. The beach close to the cottage is lovely and child-friendly, and we often spend many hours here. Sometimes we take the ferry to Sølager and visit some of the delicious fish restaurants at Hundested Harbor. We've also made the trip by bike and enjoyed how all the towns along the north coast open up to us full of experiences.
