The family summer house Øllebølle is a very special house with a beautiful location in the middle of nature and a poetic atmosphere.
My family originates from Lolland-Falster and the summer house is our sanctuary and gathering place. We want to share the beautiful, peaceful idyll with other families and couples and give them the opportunity to take a wonderful break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
I work as a sustainable interior designer in Copenhagen, so I have put a lot of energy into decorating the house with a focus on the right atmosphere and of course with a sustainable and recyclable mindset. All furniture is bought locally in Nysted and is recycled as much as possible.
The house is located right on the edge of the forest with a beautiful view of the water, and a 10-minute beautiful walk through the forest takes you down to the small cozy local harbor, Høvænge harbor. Just around the corner from the harbor there are swimming opportunities for young and old.
A 15-minute drive away is beautiful Nysted. In Nysted you can enjoy a cup of coffee and cake at the famous Nysted bakery, which has won the award for Denmark's best sourdough bread, or a trip to "Kettingebadet", an outdoor swimming pool - always a hit. "Skandsen" in Nysted also offers a fantastic sandy beach and ice cream parlor.
In Nysted there are several lovely restaurants, including Resturant Ö or Det Gamle Pakhus, and in the cozy town of Sakskøbing there is also a wonderful restaurant at Hotel Sakskøbing, owned by Claus Meyer.
Attractions on Lolland
The Fuglsang Art Museum, just 15 minutes away by car, is always worth a visit, while the Reventlow Museum Pederstrup is also a must-see. The atmospheric monument Dodekalitten is a must-see when visiting Lolland (and if you look carefully on the road out of the village of Herritslev on the way to Nysted, you'll see sculptor Thomas Kadziola carving the next Dodekalit). "Det Gule Palæ" from Olsen Banden at Gedser in the old Remise is also recommended.
In Knuthenborg Safaripark, we have also often spent pleasant days with the whole family and a picnic basket.

We have rarely stayed in such a lovingly furnished vacation home. And we have already seen many. The house is simply beautiful and Niels is the perfect host. We spent Christmas and New Year's Eve in the house, everything was decorated for Christmas and Niels even decorated a Christmas tree for us. We loved it! The wood-burning stove provided us with lots of atmosphere and warmth. The location is wonderfully quiet and it is only a few hundred meters to the sea. We will definitely be back.
