Charming summer barn by Lake Mjøsa

The old summer barn at Hovelsrud Farm is located between Lake Mjøsa and rolling grain fields—a simple retreat for those who want to get close to nature. There’s no electricity here, just peace and quiet, views of the lake, and the sound of silence.

Inside, you’ll find a bedroom and an open living area. The house is best suited for a couple or a small family with up to two children. The bed is made, towels are provided, and you’ll receive charcoal for the grill, matches, and tea candles, as well as a thermos with hot water, coffee, and tea. The next morning, we’ll deliver breakfast at your convenience. Children can sleep on the sofa bed with their own sleeping bag.

Outside, you’ll find a simple outdoor kitchen with barbecue facilities, a small beach where you can swim, and an outhouse. If you’d like to prepare more elaborate meals, bring your own equipment—the kitchen counter has the essentials. Many guests buy ready-made meals in Brumunddal or at Tingnes.

You’re welcome to take an evening stroll through the historic garden with its fruit trees and chestnut-lined avenue. Visit Skafferiet at the neighboring farm, try the Helgøya climbing park, or explore activities in Nes. Otherwise, just enjoy the view of Lake Mjøsa.
