In Gühlitz, one of Wendland's typical round villages, tradition meets modernity: the former stable building was renovated in 2022 by Astrid and Christian with architectural expertise and a love of the original and is part of a farm property.
From the very first moment you notice how lovingly the old details of the house have been preserved. The historic stable doors with their round arches now serve as windows and doors, flooding the interior with light from three directions. The old clay walls ensure an optimal climate at all times and the wooden beams give the open ceiling a special charm.
Inside, Astrid and Christian have created a feel-good space for you through the interplay of warm, natural colors and elegant metal elements, which radiates homely minimalism and simple aesthetics. In addition to the open country kitchen and the spacious living area with fireplace and garden access, the cozy bedroom with king-size bed and a spacious bathroom also offer you stylish retreats. A travertine floor with underfloor heating ensures brightness and warm feet throughout the house.
Whether having breakfast on the sun terrace, enjoying the peace and quiet by the fireplace or exploring the enchanting nature of the Wendland between meadows, fields and forests - here you can discover the unique combination of new and old.

The architectural influence and the many original details of the house create a unique charm
In summer, the sun terrace is the perfect place to enjoy your first coffee, while in winter the crackling fireplace provides a cozy atmosphere
The untouched, extensive nature around the house offers a lasting recreational factor
I am Astrid and together with my husband Christian, who is originally from Wendland, I run an architecture firm in Hamburg. Inspired by the historic buildings and the vast untouched nature of Wendland, we enjoy our life here every day and have been dedicated to preserving these beautiful buildings for future generations since 2013. The small stable building on one of our two merged farmsteads was built in 1859 and originally served as a pigsty. The loving historical details make it something very special. We prefer to discover the beauty of the Wendland by bike or in our hiking boots.
