Loveshack with wildlife and hot tub

We are Rikke and Morten, and together we have four adult children. Rikke works as a youth counselor and family therapist in Skanderborg, and I am a firefighter at Thule Air Base in North Greenland. Our holiday home purchase was our first shared base, it was here that we had our first creative working communities and actually also where our children got to know each other properly. :-)

We both love living here on the edge of the forest, in the old plantation in Illeris, Vesthimmerland. We are fundamentally concerned that changes in and around the house, and on the grounds, should be in harmony with nature and the original expression.

Having an old cottage together means a lot to us. The place gives us plenty of opportunities to live out creative ideas, renovate, play in the garden, enjoy the beach and life at the harbor, go for walks in the woods, cook on the fire, barbecue all year round, swim (all year round), relax together, alone, or with family and friends.

We have established a small herb garden with potatoes, herbs and rhubarb, which our guests can also use.

Our style is cozy, calm and relaxed. The look and feel of a room means a lot to both of us, which is why we strive in every respect to make a room, a corner, inside or out, a pleasant place to be.

We love to cook together, play LP records, play games, make bonfires, work in the garden, fire up the hot tub, enjoy evenings with wine on the terrace .... and so much more.

The surrounding area offers plenty of opportunities. We love to take a trip to the Lovns peninsula or watch the sunset from the beach by the fjord. There are great opportunities for fantastic hiking and cycling in the beautiful old plantations. Fishing in the local put and take, SUP and kayaking in the fjord are also an option.

On the beach a few 100 meters from us, there is a jetty, a dinghy for free use, and crab fishing gear.

If you're hungry, we're happy to eat at Lene's at the golf club. At the ferry landing we often visit Det Lille Røgeri, which sells freshly caught fish, mussels and smoked products from the shop, take-away and café.

Local stalls in town offer fresh vegetables, eggs, firewood, flowers and flea markets.

It's also always a pleasure to play a game of golf at Hvalpsund Golf Club or have a lovely summer lunch at Næsbydale Badehotel, or visit the Glenholm vineyard, which also offers daily events.

Hvalpsund is not far from the islands of Mors, Livø, and Fur.
