Gästhus Furilden on northern Gotland

Furilden Guesthouse is located on Furillen, at the northernmost tip of Gotland, where limestone landscapes, open meadows, and pine forests meet. The house was designed in collaboration with an architect to blend into the landscape and feel just as natural on a windy autumn day as it does on a warm July evening. The guesthouse shares a large, scenic property with the hosts’ own home, but is designed to provide guests with plenty of privacy and their very own oasis during their vacation.

Large glass panels blur the line between indoors and outdoors, letting in the ever-changing light. The materials are light and timeless, with a serene Scandinavian design. The Tempur bed, the well-equipped kitchen, the Sonos speakers, and the private terrace make it just as easy to stay in as it is to head out.

You can reach the nearest sandy beach via a walk or bike ride southward, through the gate past the old white wooden lighthouse and out across the sand dunes. On the eastern side lies the fishing village of Karthaken with its rocky beach and natural pools. The southern headland, about 4 km away, offers views of the islands of Storgraut and Lillgraut.

Northern Gotland offers excursions to the old Bungenäs limestone quarry with the restaurants Kalkladan and Matsalen, Smöjen with swimming in crystal-clear water, and Fårö with the sea stacks at Langhammars and the sandy beach Norsta Auren. Rute Stenugnsbageri and Prima Gård are also worth visiting.
