We are Tim and Marc, Tim is a professor of wood construction and I, Marc, am a garden designer. We have brought the grounds of the Old Nursery and its associated house, our vacation home, back to life. We have been thoughtful in our renovation work with the old structures so that they lend themselves to contemporary use. In this work, we have avoided materials and construction methods that are not sustainable. The idea of natural cycles and the preservation of habitats is important to us, as well as the design and the cultural interventions in things that go with it.
When we are here, we spend a lot of time in nature, biking, hiking with our dog, or swimming in the many lakes that are in the area. Back at home, in the cottage, I especially appreciate the possibility of free space that the house gives me. Here we can cook sociably together or sit at the large dining table in the living hall, and when I feel more like resting, I can retreat to the porch or go to the nursery to read or be distracted by the chirping and humming of the many animals.
Balancing both in this place to create a space that is simply beautiful for visitors; beautiful because the atmosphere seems coherent - this was close to our hearts. We like to share this experience with others and so we are happy about every guest who tells us about this experience during his visit.
