Welcome to a place in the idyllic northwestern Altmark that was created with a deep love for natural materials. Clay walls and one-of-a-kind handmade pieces crafted from wild wood—from the doorknobs and stair railings to one of the double beds—give the apartment a very special, cozy atmosphere. From April through August, you might be woken up in the morning by the gentle clattering of the farm’s own stork or the song of the reed warbler.
The well-equipped kitchen features a dishwasher and toaster, as well as a French press and an espresso maker. Spices, coffee, and tea are provided for your first few days—and if you’d like, you can pick fresh herbs for dinner or tea right from the garden after a quick chat. On cooler days, a cozy wood-burning stove provides comforting warmth, while a wall full of books invites you to browse. A DVD player and Wi-Fi are also available.
Life on the farm invites you to take a deep breath: Make yourself comfortable on your own private terrace or grab the two lounge chairs for idyllic reading sessions down by the river. You’re warmly invited to enjoy the spacious property and the farm. This is also where your warm and welcoming hosts, Ecki and Suse, live—a wonderfully lively place where people work, laugh, and sometimes craft fine wildwood. As the day draws to a close, the Altmark countryside rewards you with an endlessly vast starry sky.
Located right on the Zehrengraben, you have nature right on your doorstep. Explore the Elbe Cycle Route, the Four-Country Cycle Route, or the Green Belt. Visit Gartow (12 km) with its lake, Bernstorff Castle, and the game reserve, or take a trip to Lake Arendsee (15 km) to enjoy the paddle steamer and summer concerts at the monastery ruins. A very special highlight is the “Kulturelle Landpartie,” which brings the region to life between Ascension Day and Pentecost.
Tourism Fee not included
A Tourism Fee is a mandatory fee that you have to pay when visiting certain tourism areas in Germany. The fee is not included in the price because it depends on where you stay, how many nights you stay, how old you are and if you're bringing your dog. The fee usually varies between €0 and €4 per adult per night, but may be 5% in certain areas, such as Berlin. It should be settled with the host upon arrival.

We are Ecki and Suse. We bought our Altmark farmhouse in 1994 and spent ten years renovating it—mostly on our own—using wood and clay. We look forward to meeting people who appreciate the simple life, peace and quiet, and nature just as much as we do.
