The house of Thomas and Mathias is located directly on the high bank of the Eider, the largest river in Schleswig-Holstein and includes a total of two apartments. It was designed by Mathias himself and its interior is reminiscent of the architecture of the American 70s. The walls and ceilings of the entire living area, as well as the bathrooms, are paneled with oak wood and complemented in parts with local Jura natural stone. The floor-to-ceiling closet in the double bedroom blends almost seamlessly with the extensive wainscoting.
Through the ceiling window, the minimalist bathroom is bathed in a warm and natural light, allowing you to gaze at the starry sky while taking a bath in the evening. In the 4-meter high living room, large panoramic windows provide plenty of light and a wide view of the surrounding landscape. The fireplace, together with lamps and furniture from the 50s and 60s, creates a warm and cozy atmosphere even in winter.
The large terrace with 180 degree view over the nature invites to long summer evenings outside. If you like to spend them in a larger group, you can optionally reserve the second apartment on the garden floor in addition. From the house you can reach the bathing area, which is only 200 m away, where you can not only dive into the cool water, but also enjoy all kinds of water sports such as surfing, canoeing, stand-up paddling and water skiing. Only 10 km away is Friedrichstadt - a town that was built on the Dutch model and is therefore often referred to as "little Amsterdam". The wide beaches of St. Peter Ording are also less than an hour's drive away.
Tourism Fee not included
A Tourism Fee is a mandatory fee that you have to pay when visiting certain tourism areas in Germany. The fee is not included in the price because it depends on where you stay, how many nights you stay, how old you are and if you're bringing your dog. The fee usually varies between €0 and €4 per adult per night, but may be 5% in certain areas, such as Berlin. It should be settled with the host upon arrival.

The interior's holistic oak paneling transports you to glamorous 1970s America
A minimalist dream - the view from the bathtub directly into the starry sky
The 30m² terrace, which offers a 180 degree view over the river into the nature
I am Thomas and together with my partner Mathias I have realized my wish for a domicile with water view by building our house at the Eider in Schleswig-Holstein. Here we switch off from our turbulent big city life of Hamburg in our free time. As an architect and interior designer, Mathias designed and created the house himself. We cannot imagine a more beautiful location in this unique river landscape. A place to feel good and relax has been created, which makes you forget time and space.

Beautifully designed and decorated. The most beautiful house we have ever rented for a vacation. Located on the waterfront with a store nearby. An hour away from the beach and a beautiful park right outside the door where we could walk the dog.
