Hi, we are Rikke and Morten and we are from Odense.
In 2021 we fell in love with Sydlangeland and bought our lovely holiday home. The house was originally a Lilje summer house from 1974, but in 1997 a first floor was added. Our lovely master bedroom is located here, with a beautiful view of the sea and the large protected meadow.
Since we took over the cottage in the fall of 2021, we have renovated and rebuilt. We are very much into DIY and reuse/rebuild and it helps to give the cottage personality and its very own cozy style. It has also been important for us to make the cottage functional and easy to live in.
It's the perfect place for a romantic getaway, cozy family vacation or relaxing with walks, good books and lots of fresh air.
However, the silence is sometimes broken by chattering geese flying in large formations, as one of Denmark's great bird sanctuaries, Tryggelev Nor, is close by. It is home and resting place for many rare bird species. The area is a nature reserve under the Bird Protection Foundation.
If you drive south to the cozy fishing village of Bagenkop, you will first come to Klise Nor, which is grazed by some of Langeland's wild horses. Further south at Dovns Klint you will find the raw, unspoiled nature, with the sea and the Hatbakkerne hills that are so special to Langeland.
South Langeland is also part of the UNESCO Geopark The South Funen Archipelago.
We also enjoy walking down to the beach and watching the most beautiful sunsets. Our beach is 100m from the house on the other side of the meadow. The beach is coastal secured with stones. This means that during the bathing season from May to September, a jetty is installed. We enjoy the beautiful deep clear water that invites you to take a fresh morning swim or just a nice cool swim on a hot summer day.
We also like to visit the many thrift stores and flea markets that are close to our holiday home. At Kræmmeren in Kædeby it is also possible to find some great bargains.
We still have many plans for the cottage and are currently planning a new large terrace, hot tub, outdoor shower and sauna.
