Cottage by Lake Mälaren at Malmhuvud

On the small island of Malmhuvud, just an hour from Stockholm, a peaceful retreat awaits where we can relax completely on our own terms. Here we find a place where nature takes center stage and the stress of everyday life feels far away.

The property has two separate cottages, providing plenty of space to socialize or retreat when you want some peace and quiet. Both have everything you need for a comfortable stay, and with private access to both the jetty and the lake, it's easy to enjoy the water whenever you feel like it.

The cottages offer a nice balance between comfort and nature, with a terrace that gives us a first-class view of Lake Mälaren. From the bedroom window, we can see grazing deer while the blackbird sings its morning serenade.

Our friendly little dog Bonnie also lives here, running freely on the island and happy to greet us with a wagging tail.

The well-kept property extends all the way down to the water, where we find both a jetty and a fire pit. There are canoes, kayaks, and a small dinghy that we can take out for dinner on the water. For those interested in sailing, there is also the possibility of renting a 21-foot sailboat.

History and nature await in the surrounding area, with the Viking settlement of Birka and the World Heritage Site of Drottningholm within easy reach. We can hike along marked trails, fish in Lake Mälaren, or simply enjoy the peace and quiet.
