We are Bjørn and Gro and live in Drammen with our 5-year-old flat coated retriever Django. The cabin is not more than a couple of hours' drive away and we often go there with our son Gard and his Mariell, and our grandson Harald. We love being at the cabin together, and when we bought it we had to promise the first owner to follow up their tradition: when you get to the cabin you have to take a "thumb" with aquavit. Then you know you are at the cabin, and the calm really descends when the black stove crackles and the candles are lit. Nothing urgent.
Our dog also loves being at the cottage and roams the yard. During the summer, the sheep graze around the cottage. When we are at the cabin, we go on walks straight from there, either on foot or with mountain skis on our feet and have direct access to the Hardangervidda national park, where we enjoy the sight of eagles almost every time we are at the cabin.
Sometimes we drive into Solheimstulen (3.5 km), park there and walk towards Imingfjell or along other paths.
