Log cabin with turf roof near Rauland

Here you’ll stay in a log cabin with a thatched roof that blends seamlessly into the landscape. The ceilings are high, with exposed beams and intricate wood carvings that create a unique atmosphere. When you light the stove, it gets extra cozy. The property is a natural, virtually untouched plot, and with a little luck, you might spot hares, foxes, roe deer, or moose right outside your window.

The cabin is an excellent starting point for hikes in the mountains. In the summer, we recommend Bossnuten or a hike across Raulandsfjell. Take the Fjellvåken boat across Møsvatn to Mogen—an hour-long cruise that takes you right into the heart of Hardangervidda. In winter, Rauland is perfect for cross-country and downhill skiing.

Drive to Rjukan, about 40 minutes away, and visit Vemork from World War II. From there, you can take the lift inside the mountain up to Gaustatoppen at 1,883 meters, where the view is spectacular. In downtown Rauland, you’ll find the Lega café, serving great coffee and fresh pastries.
