High above the fjord, beneath a waterfall, a beautiful cabin house gently peeks over the edge. Nestled humbly in powerful nature and beautifully adapted to the historic Litunet nearby, this cabin yard provides a unique experience. This is not just one cabin, but three buildings fanning out over a mountain range. The three cabins, a main cabin and two guesthouses, have been named Storestova, Drengestova and Vetlestova. The buildings look like they have been there for generations, but turn out to be no more than 20 years old.
The interiors of the cabins are faithful to old building methods, with materials purchased and sourced locally as far as possible. The timber comes from a sawmill in the valley, while the windows come from Sauda in the neighboring fjord. Both beds and wardrobes are built with wooden dowels, without any nails, which adds many small, fine details.
The property is also surrounded by several old houses and outbuildings that give an authentic sense of farm life. The slate roof on the main cabin comes from the father's farm of Nils Gunnar Lie (former TV2 journalist), and contributes to the unique character of the cabin.
The area around the cabin offers opportunities to explore nature. You'll find small lakes, dense forest and the beautiful Hylsfjorden, which flashes blue down in the fjord. You can also visit the silver-grey cluster farm from the 1700s, which today belongs to the Ryfylke Museum just a few hundred meters away. Suldal Bad and the beach town of Sand are also worth a visit!

Highlights from Eivind
Host since January 2024

- Be fascinated by the cabin's many small details and craftsmanship
- Explore the spectacular nature around the cabin
We use the cabin as a family cabin throughout the year. Beautiful nature and a very peaceful place.
It all started when Hildegunn and Eirik (Eivind's parents) came into contact with two sisters who lived at Litunet (https://www.visitsuldal.no/skattar/litunet-klyngetun). They were looking for summer pasture for their Hereford cows and were allowed by the sisters to keep them here for several summers in a row. They both became more and more enchanted by the nature and history of the farm and the area, and eventually they were lucky enough to buy a plot of land. They did most of the work themselves and put in countless hours. The whole family was involved, including their sons Eivind and Knut Georg, who were schoolboys at the time. It took three years to complete the cabin. But they were good at keeping us entertained along the way. No matter how bombed and unfinished it was around, they always cooked good food and had some nice moments around what at all times served as a dining table.
They live on Bru, an island outside Stavanger, where they now run an "Inn på tunet" at Bru Gjestegård (https://innpatunet.no/bru-gjestegard/)
