In Friedeburg in East Frisia, a unique retreat awaits you in a direct forest location with its own lake. Half an hour from the North Sea coast and 45 minutes from Oldenburg, the former forester's lodge of the Count von Wedel family welcomes you with six individually designed apartments on almost 600 square meters.
Built in 1872 and restored in 2020/21, the house with its beautiful red brickwork and white mullioned windows accommodates two to seven people in each apartment. One of them is accessible via a separate entrance. The other five apartments are located in the former barn. The house also has a utility room with washers and dryers, board games and even its own SUP.
As soon as you enter the apartments, the unique design and quality furnishings will make you feel right at home. Nature is omnipresent in all accommodations thanks to soft colors, natural materials and carefully selected decorative elements.
Equipped with high-quality furniture such as box-spring beds, spacious sitting areas, elegant kitchens and bathrooms, everyone will find their very own retreat. Some of the apartments have a gas fireplace where you can cozy up with a good book or a cup of tea.
Each of the apartments, whether first floor, under the roof or maisonette style, has a balcony or terrace. In addition to your own small outdoor area, you can spend your days together at the lake with a small sandy beach or breathe in nature during a walk through the neighboring Karl George Forest. My name is Yvonne and I am the hostess in our beautiful forester's lodge, which is owned by the Graf von Wedel family. As a trained cook and business administrator for the hotel and restaurant industry, our guests are very close to my heart. After working for more than ten years in many different places at home and abroad, I was drawn back home. I missed the North German mentality, the "Schnack", the food and the family. With the former forester's lodge and its six apartments, I came very close to my dream of owning a small hotel, as I was involved in the development process and helped build it. I especially love the history that lives in the house, the forest and the lake in front of the door and the tranquility that this place radiates.
