This innovative container home in Långvind represents the architecture of the future with its focus on sustainability and smart design. As Sweden's first of its kind, the house offers a unique blend of modern aesthetics and environmental awareness.
The 45 sqm main house impresses with its 4 meter high ceilings and open floor plan. A comfortable double bed can be found on the ground floor, while the loft accommodates two single beds. The modern kitchen is fully equipped with a dishwasher and appliances. The fully tiled bathroom has a shower, washing machine and eco-friendly composting toilet. The separate 15 sqm guest cottage offers additional sleeping space with a bunk bed.
The exterior of the house blends harmoniously into the Swedish forest, and from the plot you have direct access to the area's nature experiences. Here you can enjoy the tranquility and fresh air while planning the day's adventure.
There are several sandy beaches within walking distance, the closest of which is just 300 meters away. The area offers activities for all interests - from tennis and mini golf to hiking along nature trails. The summer shop, open from June to August, will be a natural focal point during the season.

Experience unique container living with a focus on sustainability and design
Take a swim at the sandy beach just 300 meters from the house
Hike along nature trails between sea and magical forest
Our little family [Pelle, Christine, Tove] welcomes you to our cottage and is happy to share this unique accommodation with you. For us, it was all about creating a place where design meets nature and sustainability. That our guests get an opportunity to experience something out of the ordinary when they visit the Virgin Coast and the Swedish magical forest.
In our cabin you can both enjoy the silence, listen to the wind whistling between the tall trees and read a good book both outside and inside. You also have the opportunity, just a few minutes away, to swim in the sea, get sand under your feet, hike on nature trails, visit nature conservation areas, play tennis, bingo, boules, football and for the smaller children a playground. In Långvind there is room for both body and soul.
You are very welcome to our cottage and pearl, along the Jungfruk coast, in the landscape of Hälsingland!

Already in 2008 we got the idea to build a holiday home of containers, with the vision of creating a vacation home that could breathe the future. Both from a design and sustainability perspective.
At the time, sustainability and 'compact living' had long been talked about as popular segments in the market. Based on these parameters, we wanted to build both a smart and stylish house that could cope with the four Swedish seasons. This led us to the container architecture and we wanted it to meet our nature, with year-round comfort and sustainability.
The environment and climate aspect was the driving force throughout our process and to create a home that could be assessed as a passive house as far as possible. The carbon footprint had to be as small as possible and the energy used in the best possible way. All heat losses were to be kept to a minimum and the waste heat from lamps, electronic equipment and body heat would be part of the house's heating.
Our cottage consists of three containers and in order to best preserve the character of the site, these were placed with great care in the old pine forest.
The containers have been clad in matte black sheet metal and given a distinctive sloping roof to break the cubist shape of the container and for practical and maintenance reasons. As for the interior, everything is recycled down to the smallest detail. The teak kitchen is from the 1950s and the only thing that has been bought new is the appliances.
Construction of the house began in the fall of 2010 and was ready for occupancy in the spring of 2011.
