Do you love the sea and want to keep it in sight all day long? Then this beautiful fisherman’s cottage is the perfect place for you, with its enchanting garden and magical greenhouse where grapes and peaches grow. The house is located right on the cliffs at Cold Hawaii’s most popular surf spot. Here on the so-called Gold Coast, you can watch the sun rise and set over the sea. Take the 5-minute walk to the beach or enjoy the view over Jammer Bay along with 10 ponies that graze here in the nature reserve.
The fisherman’s cottage is steeped in history, as it is one of eight such cottages that have stood at the end of a sandy path for over 100 years. Before the large port of Hanstholm existed, fishermen would land their boats here on the beach in Hamborg.
The cozy charm has been preserved and combined with beautiful furniture. On the ground floor, you’ll find a Danish Morsø wood-burning stove; the kitchen is open and flows into the dining room. The bathroom features a sauna. For cozy days indoors, the first floor is your retreat: wake up to a sea view and spend the rest of the day gazing out at the ocean from the sofa, doing nothing. There is also a desk and a separate small bedroom. The house offers space for bicycles or surf gear in an additional room with underfloor heating.
In the garden, there is a heated outdoor shower and two terraces, so you can always find a spot sheltered from the wind and in the sun.
Here are a few tips for day trips: In Hanstholm, you can visit Denmark’s largest fish auction on weekdays starting at 6:45 a.m. or head to the lighthouse café. Klitmøller, known as the center of Cold Hawaii with its many cafés and surf shops, is just a 15-minute drive away, or you can continue on to Nørre Vorupør, a traditional fishing village where the boats still lie on the beach. For nature lovers, the adjacent Thy National Park offers over 200 km² of nature with hiking and biking trails. National Bicycle Route No. 1 runs right past the house.
