Gather the family and head to Kildekrogen in Hornbæk, where this traditional black-painted cottage is surrounded by large birch trees. Here you can surrender to the slow pace of cottage life and stroll barefoot down to the fine sandy beach 150 meters away. Not far away, the city life of Hornbæk and the raw landscape of Russia await.
With its white-painted wooden walls, small glazed windows and exposed beams, the cottage offers a real shot of cottage idyll. Here, the day stretches effortlessly before you and you can read books, cook good food or play board games around the long table while the wood-burning stove warms you and there's no TV or Playstation to steal your time.
The kitchen room with its designer kitchen and long table, wood-burning stove and reading corner is therefore also the heart of the house. From here, you can open one entire glass wall out to the south-facing wooden terrace, where the sun shines all day on sunny days. Sit in a garden chair with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, gaze at the greenery and let your mind wander. Should it rain, you can find shelter under the covered terrace where the vines wind around you.
In the large garden, there's plenty of space to challenge the family peace with a game of football or garden games. You can also grab your sea kayak and each other and head for the shallow beach a short distance away. Prepare food in the outdoor kitchen and end the evening with roasted marshmallows around the fire.

My name is Jesper Bernt and I'm a screenwriter and author living in Vesterbro in Copenhagen. I've had my summer house in Kildekrogen in Hornbæk for over ten years. I've renovated and expanded the house myself and decorated it the way I like it; simple, laidback and personal with a modern touch. I love being here with my friends and family and my two children, Betty, 10, and Leo, 13, or alone to write.
It's 150 meters to the beach, which is one of Zealand's absolute best and a little hidden gem compared to the larger "Copenhagen beach" in Hornbæk town. It has the finest sand and shallow water, so the children can splash around, and beautiful views, also over to Kullen in Sweden. I love being here, and because the cottage is so close by, on a hot summer's day you can get down there 2, 3 or 4 times in one day.
If you go the opposite way inland, there's the coolest walk up through the forest to the Russia area and Tegners Museum. If you go a little further, you can visit the biodynamic farm Thorshøjgaard and get a tour or buy the most delicious things from their fields or free-range animals. It's a luxury to bring home fresh vegetables and meat for the grill. On windless days, I love to take the house sea kayak, which has room for both my children and me, and row into Hornbæk to buy ice cream and walk around the harbor.
Me and my kids and our guests enjoy the large garden, which is lush, with a sunny, south-facing terrace and many old trees and a large lawn with plenty of space for bonfires and ball games of all kinds.

It is a wonderfully charming house, located 200 meters from the water, where there is a very child-friendly beach and not many people.
The house shows that the owner has invested resources and found beautiful things, giving it a very personal touch.
The landlord also provides a wide range of items, including toys, a canoe, bicycles, and more, which makes everything much easier and more convenient.
Communication with the landlord was very precise and quick, so it couldn't have been better.
The house is a little gem
