You might think you're in Sweden when you stand in front of the thatched house with red paint in the middle of the idyllic landscape. Here in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, between vast forests and moorland, lies the approximately 250-year-old colonist house, which was restored and remodeled in 2011. It offers space for two people.
The hand-plastered adobe walls, the scent of the oiled floorboards and the exposed half-timbering are an absolute dream not only for friends of historical buildings. Low ceiling heights as well as the furnishing with partly antique furniture give this house a unique atmosphere.
The cozy living area invites to long reading afternoons in front of the fireplace. The rare historic dining area, which has been equipped with a modern kitchenette, provides incomparable cooking experiences. The bright bathroom with its Moroccan cement tiles perfectly completes the living ambience.
Start your day with a coffee on the sun terrace in the naturally designed garden and fully recover from the stresses of everyday life. Explore the nature trail directly behind the house or go on a bike ride through the picturesque heath landscape, which leads you to the nearby neighboring villages and lakes. After an eventful day, you can sit back in the garden sauna and end the evening in complete relaxation.
*We love thatched roof cottages - when dealing with fire and electricity we ask guests to take care not to expose the thatched roof to any fire risk. You will receive more detailed instructions from your host.
Tourism Fee not included
A Tourism Fee is a mandatory fee that you have to pay when visiting certain tourism areas in Germany. The fee is not included in the price because it depends on where you stay, how many nights you stay, how old you are and if you're bringing your dog. The fee usually varies between €0 and €4 per adult per night, but may be 5% in certain areas, such as Berlin. It should be settled with the host upon arrival.

Clay walls, low ceiling heights and partly antique furniture let you dive into the history of the building
The large, naturally designed garden promises enough space to relax with its sun terrace and garden sauna
The idyllic location in the surrounding forest and lake landscape promises pure peace and relaxation
I'm Markus and, together with my partner Karsten, I'm your host in our Swedish red thatched house. Historical buildings and their gardens have a very special charm for us - to design them and to breathe new life into them gives us an incredible amount of joy. We would now like to share our passion for beautiful old houses and their gardens with other people. In combination with the idyllic location between forests and lakes, our restored colonist house is the perfect vacation home. For us, there is nothing better than spending time in the living room with a good book by the fireplace and then cycling through nature to the nearest swimming spot or to our rowing boat at the jetty in Rieth.
