My husband, Kristoffer, and I dreamed for several years about a cabin in Fjellsnaret in Uvdal. It's a beautiful mountain area at the entrance to Hardangervidda. The dream finally became a reality when we bought our cabin plot in 2017, and ever since the cabin was completed in 2019, it has become a natural gathering point for extended families - something we find very cozy.
We use the cabin all year round, and in the winter we are lucky enough to have the groomed ski slope running past the cabin, which means we have access to an endless network of trails right outside the door. Uvdal ski center is also perfect for the youngest members of the family, but we also get to try our hand at both snowboarding and telemark skiing. The Fjellsnaretrunden (10km) is a favorite hike. There are many beautiful hikes further inland to Dagalifjell and Hardangervidda. At Vasstulan 1100 there is a cozy mountain café, where we stop for hot chocolate on the way home. If the little ones are with us, we'll head to the nearby shelter, where we can cook on the campfire. When spring arrives, the mountain hikes are right outside the cabin door, and we enjoy going on both short and long hikes in the area. In the summer, we also like to sunbathe on the terrace, swim in the mountain lakes and, not least, enjoy the day's meals under the open sky.
When we're at the cabin, we also like to read books, cook good food together and in our family, the guys like to have a beer in the sauna after the day's skiing, while the ladies go to mountain yoga at Vasstulan 1100 in the summer. In the fall, we pick berries, or head to Geilo to shop, meet friends or go to the spa. There are many possibilities here.
