In the lovely Vendsyssel region of Nordenfjord, the Svarrehus farmhouse is located on a six-hectare plot with forest, lake and fields. The ambience in the family room is rustic with brick floors and wooden ceilings with exposed beams. There are beautiful views through the large windows and plenty of space to gather the extended family around the plank table. In the fireplace room, the wheeled lounge chairs can easily be moved around as you wish. Gather around the kitchen in the large carpenter's kitchen in the family room, or enjoy the wellness feeling in the bathroom with the wooden tub and fine brass details.
The large grounds invite you to play freely or immerse yourself in nature. In the old, wild garden you will find the south-facing terrace and many cozy nooks, while the west-facing terrace between the slopes has an idyllic courtyard atmosphere with the moss-covered boulder stairs and the old witch hazel. Our names are Lene and Lars Daugberg.
We are a family of seven who in 2015 bought Svarrehus, which at the time was just a dilapidated hovel. We love the fantastic location in the middle of Jyske Ås and the exciting history of the house, so we renovated the place with great attention to comfort. Today it is our sanctuary, where the large old outbuilding is used for intimate concerts.
When we are here, we like to enjoy the garden and forest together as a family, and have also visited Voergård Castle several times for medieval days in week 29. Hjallerup Market is always a hit on the first weekend in June, while we can also recommend the ice cream at the harbor in Sæby.
Svarrehus is also home to Friluftsvejlederen.dk, which organizes outdoor events and teaches tree climbing, rappelling and team building.
