Timber chalet at Praz de Lys with Mont Blanc views

Built from solid wood by local craftsmen, this chalet in Praz de Lys stands at an altitude of 1,500 meters, on a dead-end street at the edge of the forest. The decor is understated and tasteful, and in the evening, the exterior lighting highlights the building’s wood-and-stone architecture.

Facing due south, the chalet is flooded with light all day long. The four bedrooms are on the ground floor, each with a private bathroom. The high-quality materials and old-wood finishes give the spaces a subtle, lasting warmth, in keeping with Passivhaus standards.

From the large windows, the view of Mont Blanc and the surrounding mountains is exceptional. The chalet overlooks an open meadow, bordered by the forest. In the morning, it’s not uncommon to spot traces of foxes, deer, or hares in the area.

In both winter and summer, you can reach the Col de la Ramaz on skis or on a hike to enjoy panoramic views of the alpine pastures, spruce forests, and the Mont Blanc range stretching to the Dents du Midi. In winter, chamois frequent the surrounding slopes.
