Former brewery house in a Franconian courtyard

When you step through the entrance on the street into this former brewery, you'll find yourself in a traditional Franconian courtyard—a world of its own, far removed from the village outside. They've carefully restored the original entrance door, and the house itself was initially a true family home, which its owners gradually furnished over the years with pieces from all over Europe.

Inside, the kitchen features solid wood with an oak countertop about 8 cm thick—partly crafted by a local artisan and partly built by hand. Natural colours, oils, stone, and wood are found throughout. A white wooden ceiling lends the room a subtle Scandinavian touch, while underfloor heating and a fireplace provide cosy warmth during the cooler months.

The courtyard's a historic ensemble of various buildings, small seating areas and a lounge area for the evening hours. In the morning, you can have breakfast outside in front of the house. Roses, flowering plants and green spaces change with the seasons, and the original well—about 16 metres deep—remains a quiet reminder of the courtyard's history.

A short walk down the hill from the village takes you into open fields and nature. In the other direction, you’ll reach a cycle path in about five minutes. Bamberg’s about 15 minutes away, giving you easy access to a city while you remain rooted in village life.
