Live in a Scandinavian bohemian style home on large, protected natural ground

Dronningmølle, Denmark

Highlights and descriptions have been auto-translated from Danish

Highlights from Hayel Celik-Graversen

  1. Discover protected natural plot of 2400 square meters surrounded by tall trees
  2. Wake up to nature with a large patio door in the bedroom that blurs the boundary between inside and outside
  3. With raw wooden beams and light color palette, the simple and bohemian decor creates a cozy atmosphere

You will find The Guesthouse on a protected natural plot of 2400 square meters, where large trees and birdlife will be your neighbors. When you need to let nature into the house and blur the line between inside and outside, you can open the large patio doors with window profiles. Even from the master bedroom in the main house, you can open the large patio doors and wake up with nature. The decor of the house is bohemian mixed with Scandinavian simplicity, creating a calm atmosphere where your shoulders will be able to relax. The raw and the fine is balanced throughout the house, where you'll find raw wooden beams alongside white painted wooden walls in the annex and black and light furniture that creates a lovely interplay. The kitchen area is undoubtedly the heart of the cottage, where you can gather as a family or friends. While some cook in the kitchen, others can play a game of cards around the coffee table. When it's time to serve dinner, you can choose to eat inside overlooking the beautiful garden or find a seat on the wooden terrace. When you need some fresh air and exercise after a meal, you can walk down to Dronningmølle Strand in just 17 minutes, where the water is often so shallow that there are small islands in the water. Here you can go for walks or take a refreshing dip.

I think it was love at first sight because I fell in love with the cottage the minute I stood there because of the natural surroundings and the quality of the renovation work the house has undergone. Everything is immaculate and feels extremely homely and has only the most basic essentials and furniture that I need during my stay. I have tried to create a base for myself, my family and others who appreciate luxurious comfort and well-being combined with the simple and clean look and natural surfaces and materials that are nice to touch and pleasant to look at. The feeling of being far away from everyday habits such as screens and TVs and the usual practicalities gives me enormous freedom and creates time and space for a lot of creative expression. It feels like the hours are longer or time just stops, because suddenly there is time for more self-care in the bathroom, fitness on the terrace, board games in front of the fireplace with the kids or slow cooking for guests in the kitchen. The feeling of just being, where only the present moment matters. The fact that it is healthy to be bored does not come from nothing, I often say to my own children and loved ones when they spend the night in the summer house and just need to "land" in being away from the city. Instead, you take a quiet moment and reflect and feel how your body reacts to the calm and slowness and suddenly come up with new thoughts, games or ideas that otherwise do not occur when you are on the go. So it's always time well spent, and I highly recommend turning off your cell phone and leaving your car in the carport to hop on your bike or go for a run and explore the local area. One of the things I appreciate most is that no matter where you are in the cottage, you look out to the large green surrounding natural grounds and large, tall trees and can follow the changing colors of each season and listen to the birds or hear the "pig" (local train) that passes by every ½ hour, which gives a nostalgic feel. Every square meter inside the house is furnished aesthetically, with space for 4 sleeping guests in the main house, and in the annex there is space for 2 sleeping guests. The Guesthouse is minimalist and simple in its style and has a bohemian, Nordic vibe to it, which suits my way of life. I had been playing with the idea of sharing my slow living lifestyle for a long time and I am already interested in sharing economy and holistic thinking, which is why the cottage is the obvious place to start with, as a framework for facilitating rentals for stays, lectures, workshops, workations, writing workshops etc. but also gathering different communities for events for adults and children from near and far. Therefore, I have started the concept The Guesthouse and develop this continuously. See more at www.theguesthouse.dk. I have a demanding working life as a lawyer and entrepreneur and typically go up there alone if there is a need to take things at my own pace and recharge myself, or if I have work tasks, Teams meetings all day long or am in charge of major projects that require in-depth concentration and undisturbed settings. But - I always make room for enriching breaks in the middle of this idyllic paradise. When I'm at the cottage with my family, we are together in a more intimate way as there is intentionally no TV, so we use the beach a lot and spend time in the garden area and light a fire in the garden. Right now I dream of building an African boma in the garden, or making a pizza oven and building a shelter for guests on a hiking trip in Kongernes Nordsjælland.
