Forester's house by the forest and lake

In the middle of some of the most unspoilt countryside in Denmark lies Skovløberhuset, an idyllic thatched summer house. It is just a stone's throw from the beautiful Engestofte Estate, and the old charming details are beautifully preserved in the house. The house is about 1,300 metres from the estate's private park, from which there is access to the beautiful Maribo Søndersø lake. From here you can use the estate's private bathing jetty and swim and canoe in the summer.

Only 200 metres from Skovløberhuset you will find the entrance to the beautiful beech forest. If you are lucky, you may spot the amazing sea eagles that breed here.

The summer house has been renovated and furnished with love for the historical, but also for the comfortable and the functional. Bright colours, wooden furniture and personal details create a charming and calm atmosphere that fits beautifully with the house's surroundings. The cosy kitchen has everything you need and is located in a large lovely room with a dining area, a lovely wood-burning stove to warm up by and a reading corner where the calm can completely sink in. In the living room there is a sofa bed, which can be used if you are many in the house at once, and then the house offers two lovely bedrooms.

Skovløberhuset is located right in the woods and has a wonderful large fenced garden with a covered terrace and space for dogs, children and play. The house is located in the middle of the Maribo Lakes Nature Park in a cluster with three other idyllic half-timbered summer houses, which back in 1457 formed a royal farm.

Enjoy the view over the lake area of Søndersø, which in its undisturbed state is one of the most beautiful, and experience the fascination of being in a place where there are no traces of buildings or other human activity. If you are lucky, you might spot rare orchids and butterflies on a walk through the forest or see the amazing sea eagles that breed here.
