Peace in a beautifully renovated farmhouse

We are Ida and Nikolaj. Our house here in Ålsgårde is divided into two with a main house, where we live, and a long house with its own entrance from the courtyard, which we rent out as a holiday home. We moved from Nørrebro to Ålsgårde in 2020 and have spent two years renovating the house from plinth to attic. We fell in love with the area close to the plantation and the coast and, not least, a dream of a house both inside and out. We dreamed of combining our busy everyday lives and work in Copenhagen with a quiet and contemplative life in the countryside.

When the weather is nice, we go to Hornbæk Plantage, where there is the most beautiful path with the forest on one side and the water on the other. We swim from Langebro in Ålsgårde and Hornbæk Strand on the hottest days. On Sundays, we enjoy freshly baked bread from Markbrød on Strandvejen or take a walk through the forest for brunch at Café Hammermøllen. We also often drive to Esrum Monastery, Louisiana, Rudolph Tegner's Museum & Statue Park at Ruslands Bakker and Munkeruphus, which is located directly on the water. Here it is recommended to take a dip in the sea with a view directly towards Kullen.
