We are a couple in our 60s living in Risskov near Aarhus. We fell in love with the cottage, the natural grounds and the child-friendly beach with dunes 6 years ago, and we have since made the house our second home, where we also enjoy welcoming guests.
The bathroom is new from 2023 and the kitchen is from 2021.
We love spending time at the beach. Throwing on a towel and taking the short walk down for a morning and evening dip is a daily must. The jetty is a few hundred meters to the right. There are also benches/tables to sit and enjoy yourself.
We also regularly go for a long walk in Grenå's beautiful plantation. We especially enjoy walking in the adventurous forest on the mountain bike trails. It goes up-down-around and around. Other days we go for lovely walks in the dunes along the coast. Great exercise that earns you a drink on the terrace.
When the grandchildren are with us, we all enjoy the short distances to Ree Dyrepark, Scandinavian Wildlife Park and Djurs Sommerland. And the fantastic Kattegat Center with all kinds of fish and sharks is only 2 km from the house.
One of the lofts has lots of toys and a dollhouse.
And in the garden there is a new playhouse from 2023 and a play stand from 2022 with a baby swing and slide, as well as a large sandpit.
If you love to cook, you'll enjoy using the new, quality kitchen, which is well-equipped with various kitchen appliances. For coffee lovers, there are machines for both filter and capsule coffee. There is a large fridge and a medium-sized freezer.
We buy all our vegetables at Høbjerg Gartneri, which abounds with the most delicious vegetables, strawberries and specialties. We also recommend their meatballs and potato salad, which are delicious and can be enjoyed in the patio.
For a particularly delicious cup of specialty coffee, cake, delicious white wine, local beer and other delicacies, a visit to Ladefogedgaarden and Cafe, Ellekrogen 4d, Vejlby (about 7km from the cottage) is a must. They have the most romantic garden and in high season they play music. Find them on Facebook and check if they are open.
In the pavilion in Grenå kulturhus, there is music of a very mixed genre every weekend. We have been to many good concerts there and often you can eat first.
Grenå cinema or Grenå bowling center are also worth a visit.
And if it's the TV that's the draw, the whole family can lounge by the 75-inch TV.
We buy all groceries in Grenå town (3km) where Kvickly, Rema, Netto, Fakta and Lidl are located.
